Model, purple cloth
Seated figure in a purple garment, with dark hair falling as a heavy mass over the shoulder. The face is built up with small, vivid touches of yellow, blue and red, surprisingly detailed for the series. The purple garment itself forms a solid block at the centre of the composition, held together by a green ribbon winding loosely over it. A dark, navy blue background gives the figure extra weight and depth, unusual for the otherwise pale, open sheets from the same period.
