Model study, red scribbles
Standing figures, painted largely in pale, cream-coloured tones, the face in warm ochre and olive. At upper left and scattered across the sheet, bright red chalk scribbles have been applied, seeming to float free of the figures like sparks or spatters. The red scribbles give an otherwise calm, restrained sheet an unexpectedly energetic, almost turbulent note.
