Three models
The dark, olive green figure in the foreground, bent forward or crouching, with dense black brushstrokes making the form compact and heavy. At upper right, far removed and much hazier, a second figure is sketched in red and grey wash tones, almost dissolving into the background. The contrast between the dense, dark figure in the foreground and the faint, almost vanished figure behind it gives the sheet a strong sense of depth and distance.
