A Clivia that has been in the family for more than seventy years, captured in form and colour. The red flower clusters stand as a group of bright marks above broad, angularly painted leaves in green and yellow-ochre that fill the entire lower half of the canvas. The pot itself is reduced to a simple round plane in petrol blue. There is no attempt at botanical precision: leaf and flower are flattened into planes that rub against each other, held together by thin black lines.
