Another small circulade study from the same series, with a slightly different light. Where the other studies are cool and green, here a warm, almost burning red patch dominates — a roof or wall catching the fierce midday light of the Languedoc. Beneath it the rest of the village dissolves into a haze of grey and ochre, with thin streaks of orange running down along the lower edge. It is the most sketch-like of the small circulade studies, with much of the canvas still left open and unpainted.
