A large canvas of De Woude: the island, the water and the sky in a single composition. The format is large, but the composition is extremely sober: a broad, hazy pale sky above a flat, almost black waterline, with only a handful of small dark marks — birds, small boats, perhaps reeds — standing like loose notations on the horizon. There is barely any colour, barely any movement. It is one of the quietest canvases in Henk van Dam's work, in which the emptiness of the island itself becomes the subject.
