A pencil study of the island, sober and directly rendered. A broad sky of grey and pale blue chalk takes up most of the paper, with a thin drawn horizon of trees and reeds below. At the bottom a single stroke of yellow chalk closes off the composition — a small, warm accent against the otherwise cool, restrained tone of the rest of the sheet. The drawing carries the calm of the polder landscape without forcing a single detail.
