Goods at the market
Goods at the market, an impression from one of his travels. With loose, quick pencil lines a few chickens and a crouching figure are sketched, with small orange-red touches giving just enough colour to bring the scene to life. The drawing remains deliberately unfinished: lines cross one another, some shapes are redrawn several times. It is a typical travel sketch — quickly observed, with no time for more than the essence of the movement.
