Landscape
A landscape in gouache and chalk, built up in layers on paper. A dark, almost black row of trees forms the top edge of the sheet, with a few loose little trees in orange and pink below, standing as accents in the green field. At the bottom the composition opens into broad, undulating strokes of salmon pink and orange — water or light sliding across the land. The combination of chalk and gouache gives the sheet a grainy, tactile texture that reaches deeper than an ordinary watercolour.
